Experience

Decades of hands-on technology, from soldering irons to software systems.

AKDM is built on a lifetime of practical technical work: electronics projects as a teenager, professional computer service and network installation, industrial process automation, custom software, audio systems, cameras, studios, and maker projects. That mix matters because real-world technology rarely stays in one neat category, and useful guidance depends on knowing how the pieces work together.

Computer & Network Roots

Technical experience that reaches back to the golden age of personal computing, including service work in the kind of local computer store people still miss, plus decades of wired and wireless network design, installation, and support. FCC-licensed amateur radio operator with practical experience in radio signals, antennas, interference, and communication systems.

Industrial & Software Depth

Process automation and custom software experience, including plant-floor systems and tools that helped engineers improve production while reducing waste.

Audio, Media & Practical Builds

Years of public address installation, sound balancing, training, camera systems, Raspberry Pi builds, MIDI setups, live sound support, and home studio projects.

Good engineers have a useful mindset: they will work surprisingly hard to avoid doing the same annoying thing twice. This has a name. It is called the DRY principle, which is an acronym for Don't Repeat Yourself. That instinct is behind AKDM's approach to automation, troubleshooting, and practical technology design.

About AKDM

Analog Kid. Digital Man.

I'm Barry Christian, and AKDM grew out of a lifetime spent between the analog and digital worlds.

The name reaches back to 1982, the year I got my first computer at age 16. It was a coming-of-age moment for me in an analog world that was rapidly going digital, and it is a nod to "The Analog Kid" and "Digital Man" from Rush's 1982 album Signals.

That same idea still drives AKDM for me: the human side of technology matters. People are analog. We learn by feel, context, trust, and conversation. The digital side should bring clarity, precision, and ease without stripping away that human touch.
